The aesthetic that describes me best is “Minimalism with a Statement Piece.” I’ve noticed that I tend to be a minimalist in everything I own—whether it’s my choice of furniture, kitchenware, clothes, or even bedsheets. However, I always incorporate a bold or chunky piece to add an accent to my space and belongings.
Examples of My Aesthetic:
- A Star Wars poster above my bed
Figure 1: My Star Wars poster above my bed
- My collection of hats
Figure 2: My favorite sports hat Figure 3: Me with my favorite pager boy hat
- My chunky statement jewelry

One thing I love about this aesthetic is that it allows me to experiment with decorating and accessorizing. While I’m drawn to neutral colors, I also enjoy adding bold touches to my surroundings.
My Inspiration
My love for posters is what first shaped my aesthetic. Growing up in Manila, I was surrounded by buildings that, despite their minimalist structures, were often decorated with graffiti and posters.

The school I attended embraced simplicity, with clean and understated infrastructure, but the numerous posters around campus gave the space personality and vibrancy.
When it comes to fashion, hats have always been my go-to accessory. I’ve built a collection of hats representing my favorite sports teams and movies, using them as a way to add a statement to my otherwise neutral outfits. To me, hats are more than just accessories—they’re a way of expressing personality without saying a word.
Another element that defines my style is statement jewelry. I believe that jewelry has the power to elevate any outfit while also carrying sentimental value. My favorite statement pieces include classic gold hoops, which I consider the best earrings because they suit both casual and formal wear. They also make a simple ponytail look effortlessly stylish, which is perfect for my busy days. Another favorite is beaded necklaces, which add a playful feel to even the simplest outfits, like a white t-shirt and jeans. Plus, they’re fun to fidget with when I’m sitting down!
Final Project: A Statement Hat
For my final project, I wanted to create a wearable statement piece that aligns with my aesthetic. Since hats are a major part of my personal style, I thought designing and making one would be a fun and rewarding process. I’m excited to bring this idea to life and create something that reflects both my love for minimalism and my appreciation for bold accents.
