My vision for this project has changed slightly, but the concept of a mid century modern bookshelf remains the same. The following CAD designs are most likely going to be changed in order to fit my new vision (and timeline), wherein instead of having sliding/changeable shelves, it’s one piece that changes over time due to the changing of the items on the shelves.
In my process of looking at alternate aesthetics I found that I really enjoyed the following look —
This modern look with rounded corners, small inlet shelves and closed spaces felt unattainable if the shelves could be slid out and moved around. I enjoy the kerf-cut corners, double edges, and the aesthetic of a smaller entry table.

My fab schedule will start with material collection, which will probably be from the Boulder Lumber Company. I want to get a few slabs that can be kerf cut for the main piece, as well as some nicely layered plywood for the legs and bottom part. I plan on using leather for the hanging piece over the bottom shelf piece, and rods to connect it all together.
After material collection and sizing, I’ll fabricate in the BTU lab, finish in the wood shop, and add any finishing touches. My next steps include going to look at hardware and figuring out sizing and how its going to all fit together!
