I want to make something for my apartment, for example, a decoration or some piece of furniture. I am a hockey player and have several extra sticks around the apartment. This got me thinking I could reuse them and make a plant holder or nightstand. I do not have enough hockey sticks myself to make a full table or chair at the moment but that would be my first pick. I am currently trying to source broken sticks from rinks, stores, and friends. With what I have I may have enough to make the top of a nightstand out of sticks, glue them together, and put a clear coat to get a nice smooth finish and make the rest out of wood. My backup option is making a few beverage coasters out of the sticks I could make about three out of one stick. However, each stock has a very distinct shape and paint so mixing and matching would make for a super interesting maximalist look.

  • Seems like a great idea and a fantastic way to bring new life to the old hockey sticks. Great post, excited to see your future progress.

This seems like a really fun project and great way to reuse sports equipment. This seems similar to the Adirondack style ski chairs. Which aesthetic style are you trying to go for? Might be worth including this in your narrative. Feels like a great idea for a sports bar aesthetic.

    • Yeah definitely has a similar look to the ski chairs with a twist on it. I was targeting a maximalist aesthetic since most hockey sticks have very different bright-colored wild designs, however, I was not able to source more sticks to achieve the craziness. Now I am targeting a hockey NHL aesthetic.
