For my upcycle, I have decided to stick with the cute and pink aesthetic I exploded in my first blog post. This style brings happiness and comfort with its pastel tones and playful designs/shapes like hearts, bows, and flowers. Inspired by Kawaii culture, I want to create a fashion piece that captures this aesthetic. I want to create something I can wear that fits this style, so my project will be focused on fashion.

For my project, I’m considering two ideas. First, I plan to embroider a pink jean jacket that I already own. While the jacket is already pink, I want to add patterns that fit the cute aesthetic. Specifically, I want to add designs like bows and flowers, creating a personal touch.

My second idea involves upcycling one of the many tote bags I have. I’ve accumulated quite a few that I no longer use, so this project gives me an opportunity to repurpose them while still keeping them cute and functional. I would like to embroider one of these tote bags with fun patterns in pink and pastel tones, to fit the overall aesthetic.

I already have access to supplies to work with for the project. My grandma used to embroider and has a collection of yarn, while my mom enjoys arts and crafts and has plenty of fabric for me to use. I want to make this project both meaningful and sustainable so these materials will be a great start for my project.
While I am not an expert at sewing or embroidery, I’m excited to challenge myself and learn these skills during this project. I know it will be time-consuming, but I’m eager to improve and create something that I can wear and use. Not only will this help me dive deeper into the cute and pink aesthetic, but it will also allow me to create a personalized item that reflects my style. In the future, I hope to use embroidery to customize more items like jeans, shoes, or even other clothing pieces.

Hi Ariana. This looks like an amazing project and start to a longer term satisfying hobby. I am a little concerned if cute and pink constitute an entire aesthetic or if it wouldn’t be better defined as a girly girl aesthetic.
