While thinking of my personal aesthetic for this project, one that reflected major design movements of the 20th century, I found that my passion for photography would fit perfectly with my plans. Photography is a huge hobby of mine but sometimes it can be more than that; it is a means of expression, a lens through which I view the world and a channel into this view to allow my artistic expression to be shown.
For as long as I can remember photography has been a huge part of my life, driven always by moments of inspiration, discovery, and self expression. From a young age my dad always showed me his photography, and while he is no professional, I was still awe-inspired and captivated by the fact you can capture such a beautiful moment almost as though you are freezing that moment in time.
The experiences that have shaped my aesthetic have always been regular everyday activities. Being able to wander city streets, exploring what the world has to offer through that lens has given me the opportunity to look at the world differently and pick out the beauty in anything. I believe anyone can take a picture of the cityscape, but to be able to capture the down to earth nature of urban life is another story. When I think of my aesthetic I am also reminded of the memories of my childhood and even today, filled with long drives through the mountains and adventures outdoors, both playing a large role in shaping my aesthetic. Nature, with its raw beauty and untamed wilderness, serve as a constant source of importation. Whether hiking through dense forests, gazing out at panoramic vistas, or watching the sunset over a tranquil lake, I often find solace and inspiration in this natural world.
Although I don’t entirely have a specific plan for my final project, I have a few ideas. One would be something to do with my camera, although I am not entirely sure what I could do with it. Another would revolve around my camera equipment, some sort of storage for equipment that I could organize. Although I have a camera bag, I dont always want to carry all of my equipment so it would be nice if I could store the equipment I don’t need somewhere while I take my camera out. Another idea I have would revolve around the pictures themselves, some sort of mechanically rotating picture frame where I could have one or two pictures showing but have it store several other pictures I could switch to if I wanted to.

Hi Cannon, I really like your potential ideas! The idea of a camera storage set-up seems really cool, something that’s aesthetically pleasing and functional. Have you considered making a lens for a camera as a potential idea? I remember seeing people making ultraviolet lenses a few years back and they seemed really cool!
Making a lens would be really cool, but it might be out of my scope of my abilities. I will definitely be considering it though!
Hello Cannon,
I really like that you chose to do something that is connected to a hobby you love! I think that the city scape idea is really cool. I know you haven’t completely landed on a final idea for the project but I do love both the storage and rotating picture frame!
