As far as progress in the past week, I’ve regressed as much as I’ve progressed. As with any “finished” project I’ve found a few things to fix in the past week. While trying to fix a loose latch I realized that the latch catch was bent, so I had to stop and fix that. I also realized that I chose the wrong place to store my stove. I had previously built some spacer blocks to keep the stove in place, but based on where they were attached the stove wasn’t able to be open. In terms of true progress I also added some loops that I could use to hold the drawers to the truck bed. I also added some stain to the inside of the drawer where the stove is kept. I’m hoping to go camping this weekend, so I’m sure I will find quite a few things to tweak in the next few weeks.

Wow, I love the way it turns into a work surface. Is there a reason it isn’t wide enough to occupy the sides of the bed? I’d imagine dropping things down the sides would be a bit irritating.
Thanks! At first I was planning on building around the wheel wells, but I decided that it would be easier to remove if I just built it to be the width of the wheel wells. I might end up adding some removable pieces to pan the space, but for now I what I end up storing there. I think it might be a good spot for shoes and water.
It’s so cool to see a hand-made camping drawer in your project!!
Also the wood work is visually appealing and the structure looks very robust for supporting weight!
I’m curious about would you test the wood material since it would be close to fire, how would you prevent it from getting burnt while you are using the stove?
Thank you! The burners on the stove are pretty self contained, and it doesn’t really put out heat to the bottom or the sides, so I’m not too concerned about the wood getting burnt. We’ll see though!
