I think my personal aesthetic is pretty simple, with heavy influence from nature and the outdoors. Function is another factor that heavily influences my personal aesthetic. I don’t have too many decorations and those that I do have are nature inspired. I think this is due to my desire for things to be functional. If I don’t have a use for something I don’t want it to be taking up space. A lot of my stuff is earth toned and most of my furniture is made of attained wood, which I think gives my space a nature inspired vibe.

For my main project I’m planning on building out the back of the truck that I just bought. For years I’ve been planning on buying a truck and building a camping set up in the back. I’m planning on building a sleeping platform with at least two drawers; one to act as a kitchen set up and another to hold gear. The set up will be modular so that it will be optimal for both skiing and mountain biking.

I think the setup will be pretty simple to my personal aesthetic, because first and foremost I want it to be functional. I want it to have somewhat of a coffee house meets campcore aesthetic. The coffee house aesthetic is marked  by calmness, relaxation, and the vibe that there’s nowhere that you have to be. Coffee houses often have wooden furniture and cozy lighting. Campcore is marked by dark- earthy tones, wood, and general camping equipment.

I’m planning on building this setup out of wood and incorporating some type of warm lighting. The goal is to create a cozy, relaxing space perfectly set up for road tripping and camping.

This looks like a great project, love the car camping vibes and can’t wait to see how you use the space most efficiently!

Maddie I really like the project you chose. I have a project like this in my to do list also but maybe with a van. I love this kind of aesthetic because although it is super functional intended, also reminds me of nature like not many things. Here in Colorado you will make the most of it for sure.
So what kind of truck are you planning to buy? Do you plan to do all by yourself?

Hi Pere, I just bought a Toyota Tacoma. I’m super lucky to have my parents 20 minutes away, so i’ll probably take over their garage for a few weekends and rope my dad into helping me.

Btw, if you can share – which truck did you bought?
