I’m sure Adam Savage’s Tested Channel will be featured by multiple people for this blog post. I’m a big fan of his work, both the props he has designed for movies like Star Wars as well as his more recent independent projects. In this particular video, he modified a NERF rifle to give it a more authentic look. This video was interesting to me because it combined art with engineering. His projects are very mechanical, and require engineering problem solving. Yet, it must also look good. In this way, his creations sit in the middle on the art and engineering venn diagram. It is an interesting combination of practicality and aesthetics.

This video inspired me to try it on my own. Here is what I made:

Nerf Rifle Modification. Parts supplied by SparkFun Electronics.

In short, Adam Savage is a great inspiration if you want to get out there and make something on your own. He is a big part of the maker community and demonstrates just how limitless the possibilities are with some creative problem solving. • I have never seen his videos before. This is awesome! He really is a professional and does things very cleanly and clearly. The videos show all of the details, and make sure that the video is crystal clear so that we have the best chance of not missing anything. The used aesthetic is a very cool aesthetic, and is not done on purpose too often, at least for what I see. Thank you for using this as your example, I will be watching some of these in the near future.
