Design Review 1 – Drink Maker

For my final project I am planning on making an automated mixed-drink dispenser. I got the idea from my roommate who is a bartender and has been thinking about making something like this for quite a while. If it is successful he plans to try it out at his bar. So far, I have only been able to find one adequate commercially available version of this project:

This machine by Keurig has a very nice modern-minimalist aesthetic which I hope to use for my own project. Unfortunately, I lack the tools and ability to use actual stainless in my design and so instead Im planning on using a stainless steel veneer that I can get at home depot, which will hopefully allow me to achieve this aesthetic.

The drink maker will be comprised of 2 layers: the bottom layer will house all the electronics and heat sinks (for cooling) and the top layer will have all the containers for the drinks.

The pink walls is the insulation that will hopefully keep the container cold. The black boxes on the bottom are the heat sinks for cooling it all down, and in the front, under where the drink is placed, there is a tray that will catch any falling liquid.

For the construction of this machine, I will have to combine several aspects including the drink storage, the pump mechanism, the cooling system, and the electrical components. These will all be quite difficult so I’m growing more skeptical if Im going to be able to complete this ambitious project.
