As a mechanical engineering student, I wanted to make something that has a mechanical aspect for my main project.
Moving light that cast shadow.
But, I didn’t consider the gear ratio which made my project spins so slow and lumen of the light bulb. If I do something differently, I would choose a totally different project because I think it would cost too much to make something that I intended to. My first intention is to light all direction of the cylinder wall and ceiling so it might need to have multiple light sources with mirrors to focus the light beam, but it would look too boxy and won’t light continuous circular light.
In the future, I would be more careful planning on something that I don’t have much knowledge of, such as illumination and electrical.

Though this didn’t turn out as best as you wanted , it provides plenty of learning opportunities for you moving forward. Sometimes you just need to reach out and get as much feedback and input as you can when creating something to keep from running into unnecessary problems.
It is good now that you know that you need to do research before you start a project that you don’t know much about. Going into my project, I was unsure about most aspects of it and did a little bit of research before I began and that helped out a lot in the end. However, knowing what you know now, you are able to take your mistakes and ,earn from them if you ever want to make another project like this.
Hi Jae,
I am sorry that your project did not end up as you hoped. However, It looks good. Your takeaway from this class and this project is really important as careful planning is the right way to do anything. I really advise you to see this through and continue on finishing your project the best way you see fit.
