With this aesthetic piece of art complete, I now have found a new liking to creating and crafting interesting designs and art pieces. It was fun to gather all of the supplies and go through each step to create something to be displayed and it’ll now change the vibe of my empty room a little bit.

Regarding the piece itself, I am very pleased with how the style of the font came out and how the background is filled with string. This creates the contrast between the wood and the string using the connection points between the nails.

What’s next? I would like to change up the lighting on this piece a little bit to make the “H” stand out more. During my presentation, I received a lot of comments regarding the fact that the “H” could use more lighting and the ambient lighting from the string LEDs weren’t enough. That’ll be the next portion of this project.

This semester has been interesting and different. I’ve never really explored the idea of aesthetics and it was nice to dive into that realm. It has definitely opened my eyes to different styles and forms of aesthetic in the world.

I think it’s great that you went for something a little more artistic. As an engineer I’m always afraid to tackle things on the creative side, so I think this is really awesome. Do you think in the future you’ll make more of these? They could be cool as a decorative set. I’m sure you’d get some takers if you offered to sell them to other people!

I really like your finished product. As my name also starts with ‘H’ I would love to have one of these in my room. I think it is a good idea to try and change up some of the colors of this in order to make the letter jump out a little bit more. Also, I love your idea of using LEDs. That would really spice up the end result and create something that would really stand out wherever you decide to display it.

This is an interesting technique. I’m sure there are lots of future designs you could making using the same methods, maybe more letters? Hopefully this proved useful as a skill-building exercise and you can make use of that skill down the line.

The skills learned in building your string art can transfer over to many other types of art projects. It can also be applied to many other aesthetics. This simple technique can bring a really unique spin to other projects. I agree that lights would be nice. You managed to achieve a nice symmetry though!
