My inspiration for the final project stems from the “Chinese Garden” aesthetic. These gardens are designed to invoke peace and awe. I’ve always found a similar emotion in table top waterfalls. I’ve only ever had one and the motor was way too loud for enjoyment and many are quite expensive. I want to make a custom table top waterfall with the Chinese Garden aesthetic. I will also be exploring other oriental styles of gardens to see where I can draw the most inspiration from.

  • Hi Jordan, I really like that you are deciding to explore a Chinese aesthetic. I am exploring the Chinese pagoda architecture aesthetic which has many similarities. I look forward to seeing the similarities in our final projects.

Japanese have carried their garden aesthetic really good. I recommend checking that out more because they bought good aspects from China and Korea, but Chinese and Korean garden either destroyed or disappeared in history.

  • I really like this idea! You have a lot of options in terms of the direction you’d like to take. Do you plan on making a traditional aesthetic or something a little more modernized? I think it would be incredible if you could somehow integrate a bonsai tree. It would really add to the aesthetic and make it seem like a garden that got shrink down!

I like the organic direction you’re taking with the aesthetics of this project. As Nicholas suggested, incorporating actual vegetation would be a really cool idea. A low maintenance plant like a succulent might be a cool detail to add, blending organic and mechanical.

This is a really cool aesthetic you’re trying to achieve with this project. Do you plan to use vegetation or just rocks as in the example you included? Also how to plan to avoid the loud motor problem?
