My name is Abdul and I am a senior in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Engineering Management. Throughout my career at CU Boulder, I have developed many skills in areas that I wasn’t familiar with before. I worked on different project during the four years I spent in Boulder. Those projects vary from electrical to mechanical, which require a lot of circuitry and machining.
I love working on projects that deals with different types of electronics in a mechanical design. Most of the projects I worked on, consisted of sensors, switches, and circuits. My undergraduate career as a Mechanical Engineer has been somewhat outlandish as most of my exposure has been towards electronics. However, I believe that this fact did not affect my skills as a mechanical engineer as I am still able to breakdown complex mechanical systems into their simple elements and solve for what I need.
One of the things that I want to improve before graduating is my hand sketching skills as I struggle to translate my ideas onto paper. Being able to make good sketches out of the ideas you get while brainstorming can be very useful as it lays out everything that crosses my mind clearly. I believe that this class will help in improving that skill.

It’s very interesting that most of your projects have dealt with electronics as that is very rare in the ME department. Knowledge in electronics is a valuable skill especially as mechanical engineer. You also mention that you would like to have the ability to illustrate what you think to others, so have you tried taking an online course dedicated to sketching?
Abdul,
I like the fact that you’re a mechanical engineer who is interested in electronics and circuitry. This is a good way to exercise your skills and expand your knowledge on different areas. I think that this will help you in your career later on. It’s great that you’re in a class that helps you practice hand sketching. I feel like this is very helpful.
