I was inspired by lots of different examples of parametric design I had seen on the internet, but this light fixture designed by a studio called Path caught my eye. It looked like a technique I could replicate with my own design, and I could easily incorporate my thin wood veneers into it. I was inspired by the natural flowing structure of the whole light, as well as the clean vertical lines and relatively simple construction. My design is similar in that it has a rounded triangular cross section, but my structure twists while Path’s ululates without twisting. I’m still building my project and making paper prototypes before I laser cut my final material.
