Main project inspirations
I often use my iPad as a second screen, but putting it on my desk takes up much room, so for my main project I plan on making a tablet stand for my iPad, like this art stand I use in my room but fits better, can be carried around, doesn’t take up a lot of room and has some aesthetic in it.
There are are many similar products you can find on Amazon, the problem is almost none of the can support the weight and size of the bigger iPad, but using a clamp and maybe a flexible arm (if it holds the weight) is definitely a great idea.
For the part that supports the tablet, the art stand already does a great job of supporting it and can fold very nicely, so that is definitely a great option, may need something to hold the tablet in place though.
Another idea is to make a “fan” looking support structure, it’s more simple, and has better aesthetic.

I really like this idea! Obviously there is a need for a product like this if the main inspiration you found was the Goose-neck model intended for Nintendo Switch but people use it for iPads and smart phones. And I love your idea of using the hand fan design as the structure of the holder. It could be light-weight, fold-able, portable, and look good at the same time, each depending on the materials you select. It sounds like that would cover all your goals for this project. Good luck! I can’t wait to see how your project turns out!
This is a really neat idea! Just to clarify, do you use your iPad as an extended display of your computer? Or is it separate? Very innovative considering it is something you already need. What are some materials that you have considered using for this project and how will you obtain them? I like that you have given yourself a few different design options to start out with. It may be helpful for future posts to align the photos a bit more playfully and to double-check the spell-checker. Great idea — can’t wait to see how it turns out!
