For the Upcycle project, I have decided to utilize the empty glass bottles and produce bags I have lying around my apartment. My idea is to make hanging planters to house my air plants so they can be hung from the ceiling by the window and get plenty of sunlight.
I was inspired by current designs of hanging planters as well as the challenge of using products that would normally be wasted or be a potential hazard to the environment, such as the plastic bags.
So far, I have sketched out my ideas, chosen the materials, as well as started to test-weave the plastic bags. I have yet to attempt the bottle-cutting, but I have a pretty general idea of the approach I will take. By that, I mean I’ve watched several YouTube videos on how to cut glass bottles (see references).

Wow, this is really cool. I’ve never thought about weaving plastic bags to hold objects from. I like that you are using only recycled material to make this. Do you plan on painting the bottles or leaving them in their original coloring?
I love the idea. Very unique. Its a great way to cut back on the waste that’s produced by garbage bags every year. I’m curious to see how many bags it will take to make one basket. As far as the bottle cutting goes, I’ve cut a few bottles before just using a string and lighter fluid. Just takes some cold water to get it to break off cleanly.
