I’m a senior in mechanical engineering, and my strongest skills are in computer aided software. This includes modeling in:
- SolidWorks
- Autodesk Fusion 360
- Autodesk 3D Studio Max (if you need to have a 3D mockup in a matter of hours, I am well experienced in speed modeling. You can also export files to .STL so 3d printing shouldn’t be an issue)
I also have lots of experience in photo-realistic rendering, namely in V-Ray. If anyone needs help with rendering beyond what SolidWorks can offer, I can help. Here’s a piece of work that I did and this is the kind of quality you can expect.
A few other skills I’m currently developing are:
- Using the lathe and mill
- Interfacing hardware with Arduino and mbed microcontroller
Other skills:
- Soldering
- Photoshop, basic vector drawings

That rendering is awesome! I feel like that’s a skill most mechanical engineers don’t have or haven’t learned… which is awesome for you and your resume!
Glad to know that you have skills in soldering. I might need a little bit help for soldering for my project.
That car rendering is amazing! Does it take a long time to get a rendering of that quality?
Thanks! It depends on the resolution of the image and the quality you’re after. A high quality 1920×1080 image would take 15 minutes and 800×600 would be like 5 minutes. I generally do a lot of low quality test renders first which take 30 seconds. I also have the capability to do some medium quality real-time rendering to get a feel for the picture before I render out the final image.
