My primary engineering-related strength I can offer my teammates is SolidWorks experience. Overall, I consider myself proficient to advanced – I am very knowledgable and familiar with SolidWorks and basically LOVE this program. I know that almost all of us mechanicals have SolidWorks experience, but I have also worked with SolidWorks in industry, specifically two summers internships at Seagate specifically working on design projects and I was CAD Manager for my senior design project team. In particular, I can assist you in these areas in SolidWorks:
- Part sketches
- Part modeling
- Assembly modeling (and assembly states like Exploded View)
- Machine-ready drafts with BOM (Bill of Materials) and GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- FEA simulation on SolidWorks
- Basic gifs/animations from SolidWorks
- Design experience in general so you can discuss your idea and I can identify most design flaws
- Going over your SolidWorks parts and drafts with you and making sure it’s modeled efficiently and accurately
Note: In order for me to help on SolidWorks, you need to have a working idea as an image or sketch for me to whip something up.
In addition, I can also help with these:
- Photoshop CS6 (any photo editing – note: I cannot draw well though so you will need to provide me the image)
- FL Studio / Audacity (if for some reason you need audio or music editing in your project)
- Soldering
- I own a toolbox and multimeter and calipers and basic toolbox stuff if you need it
- I also own a sewing machine but I’ve never used it…
- I’ve taken the ITLL manufacturing workshops back during freshman year so while I’m not super familiar with power tools, I can still come with you to the shop and help
- I took the welding workshop during my junior year (not sure if it still qualifies anymore since there is a new welder and location?)
- Figuring out how to get things for cheaper in general like I am a coupon and deal finder (ESPECIALLY if you’re ordering parts online and from China!! I can probably find it for cheaper and faster shipping)
Anyways, let me know if you need help with any of those!

Good to know you’re a pro at SolidWorks! I definitely know my way around the program, but I’m no pro, and it would be really nice to have someone to fall back on when I get stuck. I think photoshop is super underrated as an engineering skill, so its great to know that I have a team member who’s skilled at CS as well. Also, whenever you know of any sweet coupon deals going on. I’m all ears
