My design is a Sonic Interactive lounge-style chair. I am considering adding themes of an arts-and-crafts style futon with a grunge aesthetic on the base.
Below are some other ideas I was floating around. The reason I chose the one above is that I could picture in my head how to build it. I have built a speaker frame like the chair’s base for my upcycle project, so I can adapt that design to my new design.

[…] Design Review: Sonic Chair […]
This project will definitely take some work but it looks awesome! The incorporation of the two functionalities will create an awesome piece of art. I’m excited to see the final product!
sonic chair looks awesome. good choice for an aesthetic!
I love that you are incorporating two completely different aesthetics. Arts and crafts and grunge are so contrasting that I think it will look really unique and cool. I also like that you are incorporating speakers into the chair because that’s a feature I would be interested in having in a chair of my own. Good luck with manufacturing!
Very interesting and unique idea! I really hope you are able to pull it off and get some use out of it! Great work with the planning so far. Have you considered other materials too? Let us know if you need any help along the way!
I would love to get one of these! I think using fabric on the chair for the aesthetic of the project would be cool! Good luck.
Pretty useful idea! I suggest you to searching a second-hand chair from some stores instead of building by yourself, which can save you some time to focus on the speaker construction work.
I like the idea of incorporating the speakers into the chair. If that proves to be too difficult though, I’d maybe make the speaker system into a matching ottoman for the chair! The construction will definitely be the most difficult part of this project.
I like this idea! It would be really cool to sit in it and watch movies. It looks very futuristic but also complex, I would suggest go simple first, but it all depends on how much time you have at the end of the day. Good luck on the project!
This seems as if it will be a hard project and expensive but if you can make it work that would be very cool. It is a very audacious project and I look forward to seeing how it turns out!
Taylor, I like the idea of this being activated as you sit/swivel in this chair. I also agree that stepping into machining with fiberglass might be a new experience! Stay safe with this material, and good luck!
I’m also wondering how grunge will go with Arts and Crafts!
Luke, this is a really cool project. I like how you have incorporated the speaker with the chair. I also like how you are mixing two very different aesthetics in a creative way.
